Ductile iron lap joint flange is mainly used in pipe to transmit water, oil, gas or corrosive medium. The main difference between lap joint flange and slip-on flange is that lap joint flange uses turnup or steel ring to set flange on pipes. The turnup or steel ring also can be used as sealing face for flange. Lap joint flange does not contact with medium directly.
